An Oriental Night out

Finally persuaded myself to answer to the invitation of my new friend, Ring, to her night out in Escape with her friends. It was unbelievable, the huge group of more than 30 people, I mean of the same group, ever in my night out. Men are the majority which made me feel a little bit awkward. And I only know a hand full of girls who I used to meet at Ring's work place.
2 hours of dancing in this summer is enough to made everyone feel the heat and sweat.
I did not take initiative to know anybody new there although I know most of them are from Malaysia. It's just a crazy Saturday night out after all.

Can't put up most of the pictures.. because these ppl shouldn't be known.

Flood in Oxfordshire

This is the 1st summer I have in England, but it gaves me such a bad impression!
1st, it's not warm for more than 3 weeks.
2nd, it's raining almost every week.
3rd, it's even flooded now and it was considered serious since like 60 years ago!

Y can't I have a nice and warm Summer!!!

My office is next to one of the river Thames branches. Everyday I passed by the river, observing the level changes of the water table, it's so worrying! This morning, some part of the riverside has water flowing out from the river. Hopefully the level will decrease tomorrow!!

Met Emma

Went to watch Shrek 3.
Out of sudden, my friend, Bella shouted at me:
"Jesly, that's Harmione."
I look back and really is she.
Emma Watson, the girl who played Harmione Grager in Harry Potter.
I knew she lived in Oxford but have never met her.
Supposingly is shouldn't be surprised to meet her but it is a surprise that she shown up in this really lousy cinema.. that cinema stink man....
Well, at first thought of may be could get her autograph or taking picture or something.. but it's just too unnecessary.. furthermore I am not that crazy about her..
Well anyway, it's really nice meeting her!!

Job Update

Thanks to Pei Shan in the chatbox, it reminds me that I haven't update about myself lately. Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby announce that I have got a job!!! Yeh... erm.. its actually the same job i mentioned in the previous post. It turns from a temporary job to a full time position as my boss really appreciate my skills and were impressed of the works I've produced. He has indeed increase my salary and will help me in applying for working permit.

I am currently an architect's assistant and interior designer in a very very very small practice in Oxford. And I really men it small because there are only four of us in the practice. Usually there is only me and my boss. Another female architect is on maternity leave and another male architect only come 3 days a week. A small office but I feel very very comfortable and most important I have my freedom.

On the left is my boss desk.

The one on the left is my seat.

This is our dining/meeting area. Toilet and pantry are on the left hidden behind the wall.

Basically on the 1st week, I was asked to do some presentation elevation. Well it's just some photoshop work and my boss was really pleased with it. To him, I do not need much attention to do work and he is happy to leave me with the job without much to worry about.

On the second day, I was left alone in the office as my boss (Patrick) has to go for a meeting in London. Woa.. yeh, on my 2nd day. He really trust me, ain't it? Well, I just do my job anyway. But I did put my msn on!!! hehe

3rd, 4th and 5th day I started to do 3D model with Sketch Up. My boss just can't stop expressing his impression about me. Every phonecalls he picked up, he mentioned to whoever (clients/wife/daughter) that he has got a new assistant named Jesly who can produce very impressive 3D work!!! I sighed...

On the second week, I finally finished up the 3D model. Although there are a few mistakes, but the client was very pleased with it and they would like to submit the visual images for planning application. I finally get to work with Tim this week. He is one of the architect in the practice and he is a German. He is cool with the computer stuff and he is also studying part time in typography design.

Next week onwards, my boss is gonna be away for a 2 weeks holiday. So it's just gonna be me and Tim. I am gonna be even more free next week!!! yoohoo..

Job

It's been 3 weeks since I started to look for a permanent interior design job. The appearance of my CV on a brochure was somehow described as very impressing by people who has seen it, including my tutor, my friends and a few other strangers. However, I have only sent out 8 brochures in total to my target firms. Otherwise, I have sent out almost 50 application with PDF version of my CV. Hey.. it's not cheap to print 50 brochures.

By setting London as my 1st target area, I thought it would have more chances considering the massive numbers of firm available in London. At the meantime, I had also applied to Oxford, Leeds, Birmingham, and etc. My options is totally open widely as I am so flexible. There are much to think about really, firstly the salary of cause. The salary given in London can be expected higher than any other places considering the living expenses are growing parallelling. Recently, the desire of wanting a job in London has been decreased dramatically because I kinda realise that the kind of life, busy, pressure, isn't really the life that I want. I like to move to wherever I get my job as long as it is not as busy as u get in London. The flexibility I had is almost an advantage for me to get a job anywhere.

I am starting a job tomorrow. A temporary CAD technician in one of the small architecture firm in Oxford. It was an oppurtunity introduced by my friend after he failed for his interview. He has faith in me as he thinks the skills I have is what the firm needs. So I gave it a try anyway and I succeed. Taking it as a temporary job because that wasn't really what I want to do. To become a CAD technician I can easily done that in Malaysia, I don't have to come here to become one. Having the compromise with the employer, he is happy to take me just for temporary as one of his architect has taken a leave. Hey.. I still need to pay my rent and by taken this job I can kill my time easily while waiting for replies and interview from other firms.

I am really happy with what I am doing now. I think I will start writing diary about my job starting from tomorrow. I won't say that I will update everyday, but I will do my best!
